Andreas Maier, Vincent Christlein

We are delighted to share that Andreas Maier and Vincent Christlein have once again been recognized among the top 2% of most-cited academics worldwide, as listed in the annual update curated by Prof. Dr. John P.A. Ioannidis (Stanford University). This marks (at least) the third consecutive year they have been included in this prestigious list. The 2025 update reflects citations from the year 2024. In addition, Andreas Maier and our university’s president and former head of the lab Joachim Hornegger are honored with a place in the career-long list (citations until 2024).

This recognition is not only a testament to the individual achievements of our professors/senior researchers, but above all to the extraordinary dedication and creativity of our entire lab. Our doctoral students, postdocs, and collaborators—both within the university and across our global network—are the driving force behind this sustained impact. Their innovative ideas, hard work, and teamwork make it possible to consistently contribute cutting-edge research to the international community.

We are proud of this collective achievement and grateful to everyone who has contributed to making the Pattern Recognition Lab a place where excellence, collaboration, and impact thrive year after year.
