The Pattern Recognition Lab and Profile Center Medical Engineering (FAU MT) are now part of the COST Action European Network to Advance the Development and Implementation of Vocal Biomarkers (eVoiceNet) (COST Action CA24128 – eVoiceNet).

eVoiceNet brings together more than 80 partners from over 30 countries in Europe and beyond, creating a broad interdisciplinary platform for vocal biomarkers and voice-based health technologies. The network unites a diverse group of experts — cardiologists, pulmonologists, neurologists, speech therapists, computer scientists, signal processing specialists, linguists, AI researchers and industry partners, among many others. The Action focuses on shared standards, interoperable tools and clinically meaningful applications, with the goal of bringing voice-based technologies from research settings into real-world use.

Within eVoiceNet, Dr. Tomás Arias-Vergara and Dr. Paula Perez-Toro will coordinate and lead activities related to the working groups, helping to shape future directions in vocal biomarker research, including methodology, data standards and clinical translation. In addition, Dr. Perez-Toro was elected as one of the Management Committee (MC) member for Germany, contributing to the strategic planning and coordination of the Action.

This new collaboration strengthens our activities in this area within the broader Medical Engineering community.

We will share further updates on concrete projects and opportunities arising from eVoiceNet as they develop.
