About us
The Pattern Recognition Lab at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is a leading research group focused on machine learning, image analysis, and signal processing. With interdisciplinary applications in medicine, industry, and digital health, our lab bridges fundamental AI research with real-world impact. Our work spans topics like computer vision, medical imaging, and deep learning, in close collaboration with academic, clinical, and industrial partners.

Location

To mark 50 years of the Pattern Recognition Symposium, we’re proud to host this special anniversary edition at the Digital Health Innovation Platform (DHip) in Erlangen — an inspiring space that symbolizes innovation, interdisciplinarity, and the future of research.
DHip will be the central hub for all symposium activities — from keynotes to sessions and networking. It’s where past meets future, in the spirit of collaboration that has defined the Pattern Recognition Lab for five decades.
Agenda
October 1st
We’ll kick things off on the evening of October 1st with a relaxed welcome reception right at DHip. Enjoy a casual atmosphere with music, good conversation, and the debut of our special LME beer — brewed especially for this event! It’s the perfect opportunity to settle in, meet fellow participants, and start the week on a high note.
🍻 Come curious, come thirsty — we’re excited to welcome you!

To round off the symposium in true Bavarian style, we invite all participants to a festive cultural outing to the world-famous Oktoberfest in Munich!
A bus will take us directly from Erlangen to the Festzelt Tradition — one of the most atmospheric and historically rooted beer tents on the Oktoberfest grounds. Expect traditional music, hearty food, and the unmatched charm of Munich’s most iconic celebration.
