Abstract: As the Chair of Explainable Machine Learning at the University of Bamberg, Prof. Dr. Christian Ledig focuses on advancing transparency and reliability in healthcare AI. His work integrates AI solutions into medical diagnostics to reduce diagnostic errors and improve access to quality healthcare. In this talk, Prof. Ledig will share insights from his research, highlighting advancements that enhance AI interpretability and reliability, especially in clinical settings.

Short Biography: Prof. Ledig has over a decade of experience in machine learning, computer vision, and medical image analysis. Prior to joining University of Bamberg, he held senior roles in the US startup industry, including as Head of AI at VideaHealth in Boston and Senior Research Scientist at Imagen Technologies in New York, where he led the development of FDA-regulated AI technologies in medicine. Prof. Ledig has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, contributing significantly to the fields of XAI and healthcare AI, with highly cited work that ranks him among the top 2% of researchers globally. Earlier in his career, Prof. Ledig worked at Twitter, where he advanced machine learning approaches in image and video super-resolution. He also completed a PhD at Imperial College London, focused on robust segmentation of brain images in MRI. Prof. Ledig has made significant contributions to both industry and academia, driving innovation in machine learning and healthcare.
