Friedrich Alexander University’s Pattern Recognition Lab has added another feather to its cap with Fabian Wagner winning the Best Poster Award at the 20th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI) 2023. The symposium, jointly organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, was held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, from April 18-21, 2023.

Wagner’s poster, titled “On the Benefit of Dual-domain Denoising in a Self-supervised Low-dose CT Setting,” was selected as the best among a large number of exceptional posters at the conference. Wagner’s work focuses on using ultra-low parameter deep learning techniques to remove noise from medical images, which can help in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

The Best Poster Award is a prestigious recognition of Wagner’s work and the Pattern Recognition Lab’s contribution to the field of biomedical imaging. The lab had a total of 16 papers accepted at the conference, which is a remarkable achievement as only 521 papers were accepted in total.

“We are extremely proud of Fabian’s achievement and the recognition that it brings to the lab,” said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Maier, the head of the Pattern Recognition Lab. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team, and we hope to continue making significant contributions to the field of biomedical imaging.”

The Pattern Recognition Lab’s success at the conference and Wagner’s Best Poster Award highlight their commitment to advancing the field of biomedical imaging through cutting-edge research and innovation.
