About us

The Pattern Recognition Lab at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is a leading research group focused on machine learning, image analysis, and signal processing. With interdisciplinary applications in medicine, industry, and digital health, our lab bridges fundamental AI research with real-world impact. Our work spans topics like computer vision, medical imaging, and deep learning, in close collaboration with academic, clinical, and industrial partners.

To mark 50 years of the Pattern Recognition Symposium, we’re proud to host this special anniversary at the Digital Health Innovation Platform (d.hip) in Erlangen — an inspiring space that symbolizes innovation, interdisciplinarity, and the future of research.

d.hip will be the central hub for all symposium activities — from keynotes to sessions and networking. It’s where past meets future, in the spirit of collaboration that has defined the Pattern Recognition Lab for five decades.
