The clock is ticking to apply to 12 professorships at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg! Apply until April 15th at the FAU Application Portal!

In the Bavarian High-Tech Agenda, FAU was chosen to become the hub in Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering and Medicine. In total eight W3 (full) tenured professors and four tenured W1 (junior/assistant; < 6 years after Ph.D.) professors will be hired. The calls are all “open topic” which means that essentially all applicants in AI and medicine can apply. In order to create some structure, the call is divided into the following sub-calls:

Up to 3 Open Topic Full Professorships (W3) for Data, Sensors, and Devices

Apply here if you have a background in Machine Learning in the following fields:

  • Human-technology interaction (e.g. intelligent multimodal medical UI, smart scanning support, brain-computer-interfaces, neuromonitoring)
  • Autonomous and intelligent data acquisition (e.g. automatic quality assurance, smart examination, scan optimisation)
  • Data integration, representation and visualisation (e.g. knowledge representation, smart research data management/semantic interoperability, process optimisation, process mining)
  • Computational methods for bioinformatics (e.g. artificial intelligence for analytics, -omics, computational neuroscience)
  • Intelligent materials and sensors (e.g. sensory/biosensory materials, intelligent sensing, sensing and analysis of human motion and emotion, lab on a chip for digital diagnostics, neuromorphic circuits)

Open Topic Tenure Track Professorship (W1) for Data, Sensors and Devices / Digital Transformation

Apply here if you have a background in Machine Learning in the following fields:

  • Human-technology interaction (e.g. intelligent multimodal medical UI, smart scanning support, brain-computer-interface, neuromonitoring)
  • Autonomous and intelligent data acquisition (e.g. automatic quality assurance, smart examination, scan optimization)
  • Data integration, representation and visualization (e.g. knowledge representation, smart research data management/semantic interoperability, process optimization, process mining)
  • Computational methods for bioinformatics (e.g. artificial intelligence for analytics,
  • -omics, computational neuroscience)
  • Intelligent materials and sensors (e.g. sensory/biosensory materials, intelligent sensing, sensing and analysis of human motion and emotion, lab on a chip for digital diagnostics, neuromorphic circuits)

Up to 2 Open Topic Full Professorships (W3) for Medical Robotics

Apply here if you have a background in Machine Learning in the following fields:

  • Medical robotics (e.g. healthcare robots, surgical robots)
  • Intelligent prosthetics (e.g. smart prosthetics, wearable robotics: exoskeletons and orthoses, intelligent implants)

Open Topic Tenure Track Professorship (W1) for Medical Robotics / Digital Transformation

Apply here if you have a background in Machine Learning in the following fields:

Up to 3 Open Topic Full Professorships (W3) for Medical Procedures, Processes, and Interventions

Apply here if you have a background in Machine Learning in the following fields:

  • Medical processes (e.g. precision medicine, guided intervention, digital healthcare @home)
  • Neurosensorics (e.g. early diagnosis, neurologic-based communication disorders)
  • Personalized treatment (e.g. digital twin, human modeling, predictive medicine/P4)
  • Digital diagnostics and therapeutics (e.g. digital radiology, digital pathology, digital endoscopy)

Up to 2 Open Topic Tenure Track Professorships (W1) for Medical Procedures, Processes, and Interventions

Apply here if you have a background in Machine Learning in the following fields:
