Friedrich Alexander University’s Pattern Recognition Lab has achieved great success at the 20th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, from April 18-21, 2023. The lab had a total of 16 papers accepted at the conference, which is a remarkable achievement as only 521 papers were accepted in total. This means that almost 3% of all the presented papers at this scientific event were from the Pattern Recognition Lab of Friedrich Alexander University.

ISBI 2023, jointly organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, is one of the most prestigious events in the field of biomedical imaging. It was a great honor for the lab to participate in this symposium, which took place for the first time ever in Latin America. Cartagena de Indias, located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, offered a charming backdrop for the conference, with its colonial architecture, vibrant nightlife, cultural festivals, and lush landscapes. The city is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts one of the most complete fortifications in the Americas, with 11 kms of colonial city walls.

The Pattern Recognition Lab’s success at the conference is a testament to their dedication and hard work in the field of biomedical imaging. This achievement highlights their contribution to the advancement of knowledge in this critical area of research, and we congratulate them on their success.
