BVM Best Paper Prize 2026 (3rd Place) Awarded to Md Badhon Miah and Co-authors

The Pattern Recognition Lab is pleased to announce that Md Badhon Miah, together with Lukas Buess and Andreas Maier, has been awarded the BVM Best Paper Prize 2026 (3rd place) at the German Conference on Medical Image Computing (Bildverarbeitung für die Medizin, BVM), held from March 15–17, 2026 in Lübeck, Germany.

The award recognizes the paper titled Vision-Language Models for Structured Medical Report Generation: Towards Consistent and Reliable Chest X-Ray Reporting.” The work addresses a central challenge in medical imaging: generating accurate, structured, and clinically meaningful reports from imaging data. By leveraging modern vision-language modeling approaches, the authors propose methods that improve consistency and reliability in automated chest X-ray reporting, contributing to safer and more efficient clinical workflows.

The BVM Best Paper Prize honors the three most outstanding scientific contributions presented at the conference and is selected by the official BVM award committee. The recognition highlights both the scientific quality and the practical relevance of the work within the medical imaging community.

This achievement underscores the lab’s ongoing commitment to advancing interpretable and clinically applicable machine learning methods in medical imaging.
